Hi my name is Food Truck Foodie and I'm a foodtruckaholic

It is dedication to race up the 57 to Brea from Anaheim to make it to a food truck for lunch and back again in a hour.  Anything can happen...traffic, long line at the truck, they run out of food, etc.  But thankfully that was not the case today, oh Happy Friday!!!.  Piaggio on Wheels was my choice of fare for lunch today.  And as this was my first time, I got 2 items to try, the skirt steak taco and the chicken empanada.  My new twitter friend and fellow blogger, callmemochelle told me about these peeps and Coli and Rosane, the owners, are so charming.  Told me I could call ahead if I needed.  Now that's SERVICE!!!  And I'm all about great service.
Ok, so the food...WOW...that chimichurri sauce was the shizz but I will get back to that.  I tried the empanada first when I got back to the car, it smelled so good I just couldn't help myself and wait until I got back to the office.  The crust was flaky and buttery, the filling was full of flavor and ample for my appetite.  I dipped into the sweet red salsa included in my takeaway box and it was cool and refreshing to the savory flavors of the chicken empanada.  As far as empanadas go, they knocked that one out of the park..  Can't wait to try the caprese one.  Then the skirt steak taco stacked with luscious beef, lettuce and tomatoes dressed with chimichurri sauce and let me tell you..I'm so glad they gave me an extra side of the sauce, because after the first bite, I put some on EVERY single succulent bite.  Lunch was a food-gasm today.  Am I going back to have more of their menu?  Yes!!  And I'm gonna tell as many people about as I can.

Breakfast anyone?

Happy Friday all!!  Up and out early this morning to catch Crepes Bonaparte in Fullerton on my way to work.   I had the breakfast crepe with ham, egg and cheese with white batter.  Wow...that was so yummy.  The crepe is light and oh so tasty.  Salty ham is grilled up along with a fried egg and folded among the cheesy goodness filling inside.  The awesome thing is they have gluten free batter.  I have a few GF friends and one of my goals of this blog is to find those places that offer allergy friendly fare.  But I would suggest tweeting or e-mailing ahead to make sure, I understand they can run out by lunchtime.
What I liked about their truck was the lower windows so you can watch while your food is being made.  I've made crepes at home with some success but those custom cooking stations make it look so easy and fun.  The staff was so wonderful for the wee hours of the morning that they begin business and then there was your friendly neighborhood groupie (I think he was homeless) chatting it up with the staff and customers.  He asks way too many questions.  As I walked back to my car, a woman passed me and asked if they are good crepes, I said, oh yes as I had already opened my takeaway box and took a bite :).

And so it begins

As any of my friends will tell you, I love food. I love to cook it, I love to share it and especially love to eat it!! I've been watching this food truck revolution unfold before me and it's actually made me join twitter!!! You can find me on twitter @TruckFoodieCA. I have a great group of peeps I hang with. And our gatherings of potlucks and dinners are always an interesting event in cuisine. We have a person who's gluten free, we have several vegetarians and a few with food allergies of this or that...me, I'm allergic to cherries and unfortunately recently discovered to walnuts as well :(.

But the new year brings this new adventure into food blogging. Food is a passion of mine and I love sharing the new food finds that I discover. So stay tuned for Food Truck profiles, menu breakdowns, allergy friendly fare and more. And please share your food truck experiences and let's all become Food Truck Foodies!!
